Kitec Fittings
Kitec plumbing was used between 1990 and about 2007 as a more affordable option to other plumbing systems. Kitec piping was made of a thin layer of aluminum between two layers of polyethylene plastic while the fittings were initially made of brass. This was a good solution until the brass fittings started to fail, causing the layers of plastic and aluminum to separate, leading to pipe failure as seen in the picture on the right. Plastic fittings were then used and they ended up with the same problems.
It is not so much a case of if your Kitec plumbing will fail, but when. If you are worried about coming home to find your floors covered in a couple inches of water because your plumbing has suddenly failed, then do not hesitate to give us a call to get your home repiped.
